Game Chicago Cubs @ Chicago White Sox (July 25th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

An Unfortunate Crosstown Matchup

Cubs fans, it was a tough day on the field against the White Sox, with our beloved Cubs falling short in a difficult 12-5 loss. From the start, we found ourselves facing an uphill battle as Chase Meidroth of the White Sox launched a homer into left field, setting the tone early. Despite Michael Busch getting hit by a pitch in the 1st inning, and Seiya Suzuki getting on base later with a walk, we couldn't capitalize in the initial innings.

Pitching Woes and Defensive Blows

White Sox extended their lead with consistent hits throughout the game while our boys on the mound struggled to keep them at bay. Flexen and Pomeranz came in to relieve but faced challenges keeping runs from crossing the plate. On the offensive side, our lineup was quiet for the first half of the game with multiple double plays erasing any momentum we tried to build. Bruján and McGuire started showing some spark, but it was a case of too little, too late.

Late Inning Rally Falls Short

In the 7th inning, Reese McGuire brought some life to our game with a three-run homer—what a moment! His home run ignited the dugout and gave hope to clawing back into the game. Matt Shaw and Nico Hoerner followed with hits in the 9th, helping to notch a couple more runs on the board. Despite the late rally, it wasn't enough to close the gap, as our beloved boys ended the day with a 12-5 loss—ouch! 😢

Our Cubs will review and regroup as they prepare for the next match-up, ready to bring back that winning spirit and show those White Sox what we're really made of! 🐻🔵⚾
