Tough Loss in Crosstown Showdown
Oh boy, fellow White Sox fans, what a rollercoaster of a game we had in this epic crosstown rivalry against the Cubs! We went through all the highs and lows only for the game to end painfully as we fell short, 5-4. But let's break it down and see what went right, and where we could've done better. The Start
The Cubs came out swinging in the top of the first with Pete Crow-Armstrong launching a double to bring in two runs, immediately putting us in a 2-0 hole. But worry not, because our very own Andrew Benintendi responded with a solo shot in the bottom of the first, cutting their lead in half and waking up our dugout. Go, Benny!

Middle Innings Struggle
Despite a solid effort from our pitching staff to keep the game close, a few mistakes allowed the Cubs to expand their lead to 4-1 by the sixth inning. An unfortunate error by Colson Montgomery combined with a well-timed double by their side set us back, showing us just how critical defense is in these games. Come on, guys – we've got to tighten up those innings!
A Heart-Pounding Finish
As we entered the bottom of the eighth, spirits lifted again when Andrew Benintendi hit his second homer of the night, this time a three-run bomb that brought us right back into the fight at 5-4! That energy was palpable across the bleachers, wasn't it?! But alas, despite a brave effort, we couldn't close that final gap in the ninth inning. Luis Robert Jr. got hit by a pitch to keep our hope alive, but unfortunately, we couldn't quite make it home. So close yet so far.
Conclusion & Hope for the Next Game
It was a hard-fought game and while the loss stings, we should tip our caps to Benintendi for keeping us in it. Small mistakes made the difference today, but we've seen the heart in our team. Let's regroup, focus, and prepare for the next game. Win or lose, we're proud of our Sox! Onward, let's get them next time!
