Reds Triumph Over the Cubs!
️
What a fantastic game for our Cincinnati Reds against the Chicago Cubs! The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, and the boys did not disappoint. With a final score of 6-4, it's safe to say that we gave the Cubs a run for their money. Let's dive into the action!
Early Lead Thanks to Elly De La Cruz
Things started heating up in the bottom of the first inning when Santiago Espinal took a walk, setting the stage for Elly De La Cruz to shine. De La Cruz hit a massive home run to right center, bringing the score to 2-0 and giving us an early advantage over the Cubs. It was the perfect start our team needed, and the Reds faithful couldn't have been prouder!
Adding to the Score
Will Benson contributed in the fourth inning by hitting a sacrifice fly that allowed Gavin Lux to score, extending our lead to 3-1. The fifth inning was a standout, with De La Cruz once again stepping up, hitting a crucial single that scored both TJ Friedl and Espinal. Spencer Steer then sealed the deal in the inning, singling to center and sending De La Cruz home. Suddenly, the score was an impressive 6-1!
Closing It Out with Grit
The Cubs did attempt a comeback, with Justin Turner and Carson Kelly hitting homers in the third and ninth innings, respectively. But our defense and pitching kept the game under control. Special shoutout to our relief pitchers Graham Ashcraft, Tejay Antone, Tony Santillan, and Emilio Pagán, who managed to keep the Cubs' lineup at bay, especially when the Cubs threatened in the closing innings.
Your Cincinnati Reds showcased resilience and skill in this beautifully played game. Kudos to Elly De La Cruz for his outstanding performance and to the entire team for this well-deserved victory. Can't wait for the next one! Go Reds!!!
