A Tough Outing for the Dodgers
Well, Dodgers fans, it was a challenging day at the ballpark as the Cubs outplayed our boys in Blue. The game ended with a final score of 6-2 in favor of Chicago, and it seems our lineup struggled to get things going early in the game.
Pitching and Defensive Woes
In the early innings, the game was a pitcher's duel with neither team managing to score. Relief pitchers for the Dodgers, including Díaz, Scott, and Mills, tried their best to contain the Cubs' offense. However, things took a turn in the 5th inning with Murray Jr. scoring on a wild pitch due to an error. By the 7th inning, the Cubs had doubled their lead with sloppy fielding and mistakes, allowing some crucial runs that widened the gap.
A Late Rally Meets Strong Defense
Despite the challenges, there were some promising moments from our squad in the 9th inning when the Dodgers finally got on the scoreboard. Hope led the inning with a walk, and Alfonzo followed with a single, allowing Hope to score on a defensive misstep by the Cubs. Hainline managed a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run, but it just wasn't enough as the Cubs' bullpen shut us down to end the game. These signs of life remind us there's always hope for tomorrow.
