Tough Loss for the Cubbies Against the Cardinals
Hey Cubs fans!
A Slow Start for Our Offense
The game started quietly with both teams holding zeroes through the first three innings. Ian Happ, Kyle Tucker, and Seiya Suzuki all couldn't get it going early on. Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow-Armstrong put up a fight but still couldn't spark any runs in the first two innings. That Dreaded Fourth Inning
The Cardinals broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two-run homer by Lars Nootbaar. It seemed like everything changed for us from that point on. Even though Crow-Armstrong and Carson Kelly teamed up to help get us a run in the fifth, Nico Hoerner's and Justin Turner's bats were not enough to switch the momentum back our way.Home Runs Hurt Us
Unfortunately, the Cardinals had our number today, with homers from Brendan Donovan, Alec Burleson, and Nolan Gorman putting the game out of our reach. The Cubs really struggled to get back into it, despite Crow-Armstrong's stellar performance with two doubles and the sacrifice fly by Turner in the seventh inning bringing in our second run.Final Thoughts
The bullpen struggled to hold back the Cardinals today, and our offense just couldn’t match them. Pitching relief from Fulmer and Brasier helped stop the bleeding, but the damage was already done. We've got some work to do, but as always, we'll come back fighting next game. Let’s keep our heads up, Cubs fans!
