A Rough Start
It was a tough day at Citi Field for our New York Mets. From the start, things looked shaky, especially in the first inning when the Chicago White Sox jumped to a quick lead. After Mike Tauchman walked and Miguel Vargas hit a double, Andrew Benintendi drove them both home with a single to right. We were trailing 0-2 before we'd even caught our breath.
Brief Moments of Hope
The top of the second didn't help our spirits. With errors haunting us early, Tauchman's double brought home two more runs. Our guys finally saw some daylight in the third inning when Mark Vientos hit a massive 368-foot homer! This three-run blast brought us back within reach, making it 3-5. It was an incredible moment from Vientos and the kind of spark we needed.

Too Little, Too Late
Alas, it just wasn't our day. The White Sox extended their lead, with Benintendi and Lenyn Sosa driving in more runs. When Benintendi homered in the eighth, putting them up 9-3, the tension was palpable. Our final push came in the bottom of the ninth when Pete Alonso doubled, allowing Brandon Nimmo to score a consolation run. We finished with a 4-9 loss. Some days, the luck just doesn't go our way. Hang in there, Mets fans. We'll get them next time! Let's go Mets!
