Thrilling Start for the White Sox!
️
Our Chicago White Sox came out swinging in the first inning against the Washington Nationals. Despite an initial fielding error on Chase Meidroth, the Sox quickly capitalized. Kyle Teel and Chase Meidroth found their way onto the bases thanks to an error by the Nationals' shortstop. Colson Montgomery unfortunately struck out, but we stayed strong. Miguel Vargas was clutch with a single to right, bringing Meidroth home, and Edgar Quero moved Vargas up with a groundout. It got even better when Brooks Baldwin hit a double, allowing both Teel and Vargas to score. Lenyn Sosa followed up with a single bringing in Baldwin. By the end of the first, we were up 4-0!
White Sox Push Ahead
In the fourth inning, Lenyn Sosa continued to shine, smashing a homer to left center. With Dominic Fletcher on base after a walk and a stolen base, Kyle Teel came through with a single, adding another run. By this time, the score was 6-1 in favor of the Sox.The fifth inning saw the Sox capitalize on the Nationals' defensive errors again. A double from Sosa brought in Vargas, and smart base running helped turn a fielder's choice into two more runs. A solid lead was developing with the Sox up 8-1.
Nationals Fight Back but Sox Stand Firm
Despite our lead, the Nationals showed some resistance. In the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings, they chipped away, bringing the game to a nail-biting 9-8, thanks to home runs from Garcia Jr. and Lile. But our White Sox were far from finished. In the top of the ninth, a pivotal error by the Nationals’ pitcher allowed Kyle Teel on base. That’s when Colson Montgomery stepped up and delivered a breathtaking homer to right center, giving us back the lead at 10-9.
Closing it Out
In a tense bottom of the ninth inning, G. Taylor came in to save the day for the Sox. The Nationals managed a single, but with a pop fly and two key strikeouts, including newcomer Nasim Nuñez, the game was sealed in favor of the White Sox. Watching the nation's capital fall to our Sox is always a delight, especially with a score of 10-9!
What a day to be a White Sox fan! Looking forward to seeing our team continue riding this victory momentum. Go Sox!
