Despite our early advantage, the Diamondbacks stormed back in the third inning with a three-run homer by Gabriel Moreno. That moment felt like a gut punch, swinging the momentum back in Arizona's favor. But there was no quit in our team! We clawed our way back with a fantastic triple by Elly De La Cruz in the sixth, allowing Austin Hays to drive him home with a groundout, narrowing the gap to 4-3.Extra Innings Drama
In the 8th, Miguel Andujar came off the bench and made an impact immediately by doubling and then scoring off De La Cruz's single, leveling the score at 4-4. Our bullpen was solid in the late innings, keeping the Diamondbacks from taking the lead—even as we pushed into extras. In an intense 10th inning, we managed to take a 5-4 lead, courtesy a little assistance from a throwing error! The game seemed to be in our hands, but then the Diamondbacks evened it up again. Just when it looked like we could rally once more, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. delivered the walk-off hit in the 11th, finishing off our hopes.
Onward and Upward
Though we didn't take home the win, there were definitely some bright spots to take away from this tight contest. Our Reds continue to show resilience and grit no matter the situation.
