Nationals Jump to Early Lead
What a start for our Washington Nationals! After getting out of a sticky first inning with no damage, we absolutely unloaded offensively in the bottom half. CJ Abrams kicked things off with a walk, and James Wood followed up with an electrifying double that brought Abrams home. The excitement continued as Josh Bell and Nathaniel Lowe both reached base, loading them up for Daylen Lile. Lile sent a scorcher down the right field line for a bases-clearing triple, leaving us up 4-0 at the end of just the first inning. Talk about starting with a bang!
️Bell Goes Deep & Nationals Pull Away
In the third inning, our heavy-hitting DH Josh Bell stepped up and blasted a homer into the stands, putting us ahead 5-0. Following some small ball and excellent base running, Riley Adams and Jacob Young each added a run batted in as we extended our lead to 7-0. However, the Reds dug deep and clawed back, narrowing the score at one point to 7-5. We weren't having it, though, as Brady House and Amed Rosario continued to keep the scoreboard shining in our favor, pushing us to 10-6 by the end of the 6th inning.
Closing It Out: Nationals Triumph
As the Reds tried to rally in the 9th, knocking in a couple more runs, the Nationals' bullpen showed resilience. Kyle Finnegan was tasked with sealing the deal for us. Despite facing some tenseness on the mound with the wild pitch allowing another run, Finnegan composed himself and secured the final outs, ensuring the Nats clinched a well-deserved 10-8 victory over the Reds.
A great team effort all around, and it feels fantastic to see the boys come through with the win today! Let's keep this momentum rolling, Nationals fans!
