Tense Start with No Early Runs

The matchup between our beloved Yankees 🗽 and the Cleveland Guardians began with a fierce display of pitching and defense from both teams. Our boys struggled initially at the plate, as Trent Grisham, Ben Rice, and the mighty Aaron Judge were all retired in order during the first inning. But fret not, the Yanks' defense matched their energy, keeping the Guardians off the scoreboard as well, thanks to some sharp pitching and solid fielding.

5th Inning: Yankees on the Board! ⚾️

Finally, in the bottom of the 5th inning, the tide began to turn! After a tough start, Jazz Chisholm Jr. knocked a single to left, getting us on base. This was followed by patience at the plate from J.C. Escarra, drawing a walk. DJ LeMahieu, ever the clutch hitter, smacked a single to right field, allowing Chisholm Jr. to dash home and put the Yankees up 1-0! A little help from a Guardians error kept the bases alive but couldn't add more. Nevertheless, first blood was drawn.

Power Surge and Closing It Out! 💪

In an electrifying 7th inning, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Anthony Volpe showcased why the Bronx Bombers are second to none. Chisholm Jr. launched a solo shot to right center, immediately increasing the lead, and Volpe followed suit with a homer to left! Those back-to-back homers took the score to 3-1, lighting up Yankee Stadium and sending fans into a frenzy 🎉.

Closing out a tight game, our pitching staff did not disappoint. While the Guardians attempted to rally back in the 9th with Schneemann singling in Santana to close the gap to 3-2, it wasn't enough to stop us from clinching victory. Hats off to our bombers for another thrilling win! 🏆

Overall, a cliff-hanger match that tested our nerves but ended with jubilation. Go Yankees! 💙👏
