Rockies Getting Rocked by the Astros
Well, Rockies fans, it wasn't the best day for our squad as we took on the Houston Astros.
Rockies Offensive Struggles
Our bats were pretty quiet today, and it was tough to see us not able to capitalize on the opportunities we had. In the early innings, we struggled to get on base, and even when Brenton Doyle got a hit, we couldn’t seem to bring in any runs. Our best efforts saw Kyle Farmer manage a single in the 5th and Tyler Freeman adding a couple of scrappy singles, but unfortunately, nothing came of it.
Astros' Strong Pitching and Homers
The Astros did what they do best—strong pitching and some solid hitting. An early run in the 1st due to a wild pitch opened the door, followed by a Cam Smith homer in the 7th that gave the Astros the cushion they needed. A Yordan Alvarez homer in the 8th just sealed the deal for us. Their pitchers really kept our batters at bay all game, which was frustrating to watch.
Looking Toward Our Next Opportunity
We've got to shake off this loss and look ahead to redeem ourselves soon. Our bullpen had some bright moments with Dollander and Anderson holding their ground before things got worse in the late innings. Let's hope our bats heat up in the next matchup. Go Rockies! Let's keep pushing and turn this around. We believe in you!
