Rockies Get the Lead, but Phillies Take the Win
Despite a promising start and some standout performances, our beloved Colorado Rockies fell to the Philadelphia Phillies with a final score of 1-6. The game was competitive through most of the innings, but the Phillies surged in the bottom of the 7th inning, overturning our slim lead and pushing past us with a series of strong plays that we just couldn't match.Tight Defense and Brilliant Play by Hunter Goodman
Things started promisingly when Brenton Doyle walked in the first inning, giving us an early chance. However, despite several attempts, we were unable to bring him home. Our defense was on point throughout the initial innings, putting up a strong front against the Philadelphia offense. In the 6th inning, Hunter Goodman gave us something to cheer about with a 405-foot homer to center field, putting us ahead 1-0.

Phillies Bounce Back Hard
Unfortunately, the bottom of the 7th inning saw the Phillies crack open our stalwart defense. Edmundo Sosa and Kyle Schwarber made significant contributions, with Sosa's double bringing home two runs, and Schwarber's centerfield homer adding two more. This rally put the Phillies up 4-1. In the bottom of the 8th, the Phillies extended their lead with home runs by Max Kepler and Nick Castellanos, pushing the score to 6-1 and securing the win.Final Notes
While seeing a lead slip away is always tough, it was impressive to witness Brenton Doyle continuously reach base and the promising swings by Hunter Goodman. Their efforts didn't go unnoticed and give us hope for the games to come. Though today wasn't our day, I remain optimistic that with continued grit and a bit more luck
