Hey Rockies fans, this game against the Pirates was a tough one to swallow. Let's dive into the details!
️

Despite the loss, I'm proud of our boys for grinding it out and showing resilience. We'll regroup and come back stronger for the next one, Rockies Nation! Let's keep cheering our team and stand behind them! Go Rockies!

Defensive Duel
The game started as a defensive showdown, with both teams keeping each other scoreless through the first three innings. On our side, Tyler Freeman was involved in a couple of plays, grounding out in both the 1st and 3rd innings. Mickey Moniak and Hunter Goodman struggled early on too, unable to get on base against the Pirates' strong defense. Our pitchers kept the Pirates at bay, with Brenton Doyle catching a crucial out in the 3rd.
Triolo's Dagger
The 4th inning was where the tide turned against us. Despite Jordan Beck and Doyle making good contact earlier in the game, it was the Pirates’ Jared Triolo who delivered the game-changing blow with a three-run homer that sent chills down every Rockies fan's spine. To make matters worse, Isiah Kiner-Falefa's double added another run, putting us in a 0-4 deficit. It was a rough inning for us, but credit to our team for keeping their heads up!
Fighting Until the End
Despite the score, our Rockies kept battling. In the 7th, Doyle provided a spark with a ground-rule double, and again in the 9th when Goodman doubled and Beck managed to walk. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize on these opportunities to convert them into runs. The Pirates' pitching was relentless, ensuring our comeback efforts fell short. A big shoutout to our relief pitchers Herget and Chivilli for keeping the Pirates from adding to their score! Kudos to the team for giving it their all.
