A Tough Battle Underway
Hey Padres Nation!
Rough Middle Innings
The Rockies turned the tides in the 4th inning with Blaine Crim hitting a two-run homer and then Kyle Farmer adding a solo shot of his own. Our bullpen tried to keep it together, but that inning left us in a tricky spot. Our offense struggled to find its rhythm, with strikeouts becoming all too frequent, especially as Fernando Tatis Jr. had a rough day at the plate. It was certainly frustrating witnessing our missed opportunities.
A Fight 'Til the End
In the bottom of the 9th, down 4-1, we saw some signs of life! Manny Machado singled and Gavin Sheets doubled, setting the stage with runners in scoring position. Ramon Laureano grounded out but brought Machado home to close the gap. With Jackson Merrill walking, the tying run was at the plate, but alas, we couldn't capitalize as Ryan O'Hearn struck out swinging to end our hopes of a comeback. We fall to the Rockies 4-2, but there's no doubt we fought till the last out. Let's regroup and look forward to the next one. Our Padres always battle their hearts out, and we'll be there cheering every step of the way!
