An Intense Battle in D.C.
Hey Rockies Nation!
Early Inning Struggles
The game remained scoreless for the first three innings, with our boys struggling to make an impact at the plate. Both Jordan Beck and Mickey Moniak got out early, and Hunter Goodman struck out swinging. However, our defense managed to hold the Nats at bay with a smooth double play turned by Ryan Ritter and Michael Toglia, ending their potential threats. This defensive work was solid throughout, but we faced a tougher situation in the bottom of the 4th when James Wood launched a homer, setting the Nationals up 2-0.
Rallying Back
But our Rockies didn't back down without a fight! In the top of the 5th, Orlando Arcia hit a single to center, getting us into gear. With a little help from an error, Beck doubled to get Arcia home, and a subsequent single by Moniak brought Beck in, tying the game at 2-2. The energy was electric!
Extra Innings Heartbreak
Moving into the 11th inning, Toglia came up clutch with a single, helping us take the lead, 3-2! There was a glimmer of hope right there that had us dreaming of victory.
While we didn't get the W today, the effort and fighting spirit of our team can't be overlooked. Let’s keep supporting the Rockies and look forward to getting back to winning ways!
