An Exciting Start for the Tigers!

The Detroit Tigers faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies in a tight match that ended with a 2-2 tie. Starting off strong in the first inning, our very own Riley Greene reached base thanks to a fielding error by the Phillies' Alec Bohm. Kerry Carpenter took advantage, singling to the left and pushing Greene to third. Then, the magic happened! Colt Keith smacked a double to left field, bringing both Greene and Carpenter home, giving the Tigers an early 2-0 lead. 🐯💪

The Middle Innings: Holding the Line

As the innings progressed, the Tigers remained strong defensively, keeping the Phillies at bay until the bottom of the third. That's when the Phillies started to claw their way back. Brandon Marsh and Trea Turner reached the bases, culminating in a single from Bryce Harper that allowed Marsh to score. The score stood at 2-1 with our Tigers still in the lead — just barely! The fourth and fifth innings saw some relentless pitching and defense from our guys, despite Turner managing a sacrifice fly to level the score. However, Skubal and company skillfully dodged any additional runs with some crucial double plays. ⚾

A Battle to the End

As the match entered the final innings, the pressure was on! Our relief pitching from the likes of Hanifee and Brieske kept the Phillies searching fruitlessly for a go-ahead run. An especially intense moment came when Javier Báez was hit by a pitch in the 7th inning but the Phillies were quick to react and we couldn’t score. Similarly, opportunities slipped past both teams in the 9th inning as the score remained tied at 2-2.

Ultimately, despite their best efforts — and a valiant performance from our Tigers — the game concluded as a 2-2 draw. Not the win we hoped for, but still a battle against a strong opponent!

Go Tigers! 🎉🐯
