Tough Start for the Tigers

The game today against the Tampa Bay Rays kicked off with us holding our breaths. The top of the first saw some promise but fizzled out when Gleyber Torres got hit by a pitch and Riley Greene walked, offering a glimmer of hope! Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize as Wenceel Perez struck out to end the inning. Meanwhile, the bottom of the first was quite a challenge. Brandon Lowe managed to score on a passed ball. A hit by pitch and timely singles meant the Rays quickly jumped to a 4-0 lead. Not the start we were hoping for! 😓

An Uphill Battle

In the second inning, Parker Meadows walked and Jake Rogers singled, putting some pressure on. However, we couldn't break through. The Rays, on the other hand, added another run with Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe leading the charge, extending their lead to 5-0. Our boys seemed to be struggling to find their footing on the mound. No one said this would be easy!

Fighting Back

By the fourth inning, we finally managed to get on the scoreboard when Rogers grounded out to shortstop, allowing Javier Báez to come home. But the Rays kept the pressure high as Danny Jansen and Junior Caminero homered back-to-back in the bottom of the 4th, making it a daunting 7-1. We battled through, gaining some ground in the 8th when Wenceel Pérez scored off a Jahmai Jones double and Báez crossed home plate with a Dillon Dingler sacrifice fly. Though the Tigers came alive late, the Rays proved to be too much to handle with their 8-3 victory.

The energy just didn’t seem to be on our side today, but as every fan knows, there's always another game to turn things around! 🐅🎉
