A Promising Start

We started off the game with such promise, and we had our hopes high right from the top of the 1st inning. Bobby Witt Jr. kicked things off with a single to center, and when Vinnie Pasquantino patiently took a walk, it set us up perfectly. The man, the myth, the legend—Salvy, a.k.a. Salvador Perez—delivered by singling to left, bringing Witt Jr. home to take the early lead! 💙 The inning might have concluded with a strikeout by MJ Melendez, but we were on the board!

A Tense Back-and-Forth

The tension grew in the 3rd inning when the Yankees turned the tables on us. Volpe doubled to left, allowing two runs to score—a tough blow, and the score shifted to 2-1 in their favor. But our resilient boys weren’t going to back down. In the 5th, Kyle Isbel managed a thrilling triple to center, bringing Drew Waters home. In the same inning, Jonathan India grounded out, but Isbel crossed home plate—making it a nail-biting 3-3 tie. 🎉

Heartache in the Later Innings

The game continued to be a tough fight. Both teams kept pressing on, hoping to break the tie. In a momentum-shifting moment in the 7th, Yankees star Aaron Judge homered to center, pushing the score to 4-3. Our hearts sank a bit, but we held out hope through the 9th inning. Pasquantino led us off with a single, giving us reasons to believe again. Though Cavan Biggio came in as a pinch-runner, we couldn't capitalize. That final wild pitch, and a walk by Maikel Garcia put us on edge, yet in the end, our last efforts fell just short. It's a heartbreaking one-run loss! 💔

Even though we couldn't pull off the win, the fight and tenacity our Royals showed today had us believing until the last pitch. We'll get 'em next time, Royals fans! 👏💪
