A Tough Start on the Mound

The Mets started slow but steady against the Angels today, as the top of the lineup struggled to get on base. Things got a bit rocky early after Logan O'Hoppe put the Angels on the board with a solo homer in the second inning, putting us on the back foot. Meanwhile, the Mets’ bats were quiet with some missed opportunities, making it 0-4 by the middle of the third inning.

Baty's Big Blast and the Rally

Mets fans, it’s games like these that we live for! 💪 Despite the shaky start, our boys showed some grit. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Brett Baty sparked the rally with a two-run homer that shot over center field! The Mets clawed their way back into the game, narrowing the score to 2-4. Our bullpen came through big time, stabilizing the game and keeping the Angels from extending their lead. The seventh inning witnessed an electrifying comeback when Francisco Lindor knocked in a run with fielder's choice and then Juan Soto unleashed a two-RBI single, tying the game at 5-5.

Sealing the Victory

As the tension mounted, the bottom of the eighth was a masterclass in capitalizing on the opponent's mistakes. After a rocky sequence for the Angels involving a missed play by O'Hoppe, Ronny Mauricio liberally took the opportunity to score Baty. Then, Brandon Nimmo came through with a crucial sac fly, bringing home Francisco Alvarez. It was 7-5 to the Mets, and the excitement at Citi Field was palpable! Ultimately, Edwin Díaz could not have closed it out more convincingly, striking out the Angels' top players in the ninth inning. What a way to finish strong at home! 🤩 Mets win 7-5, and oh, does it feel good! 🗽⚾
