Game Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs (March 19th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Cubs Give It Their All Against Dodgers

In a hard-fought battle at Wrigley, our Chicago Cubs fell short against the Los Angeles Dodgers, ending with a score of 6-3. Despite some remarkable plays and efforts from the squad, it just wasn't enough to take down the powerhouse lineup from L.A.

Dodgers Dominate Early Innings

The Dodgers set the tone early with a solid second inning. Things heated up after Will Smith managed to draw a walk and Max Muncy followed with a double. A passed ball by Carson Kelly allowed Smith to cross home plate, and something as simple as a sacrifice fly by Enrique Hernandez brought Muncy in too, giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. Tommy Edman expanded that lead with a homer in the third to make it 3-0.

Cubs Fight Back

Our Cubs didn’t go down without a fight! In the bottom of the third, Jon Berti got on base with a nifty infield single, then did what he does best - stealing second. Though the bases were loaded, we only managed one run as Kyle Tucker walked, allowing Berti to score. Despite the bases being loaded with only one out, the Dodgers escaped the inning conceding just the lone run. It was 3-1 Dodgers at that point.

The team added another run in the fourth thanks to Ian Happ's single pushing Berti home. In the fifth, Matt Shaw got a chance to shine on an infield single, then scored thanks to Dansby Swanson's clutch double. At that point, we managed to cut the lead to 6-3.

Ohtani and Hernandez Show Their Power

The Dodgers, unfortunately, flexed their muscles at the plate with homers from groan Shohei Ohtani in the fifth and this game's apparent Cub kryptonite, Enrique Hernandez, who hit a two-run blast earlier in the fourth, pushing their lead higher and eventually unreachable. Ohtani's solo shot made it 6-2, putting pressure on our Cubbies to find another gear, which they almost managed to do in the latter part of the game.

While the team showed resilience throughout the match, it wasn't enough to triumph in the end. As disappointing as the final score was, today's game showed the talent and determination our players possess. The Cubs are always looking to fight back; we'll hang our hats on that spirit! Onward, to the next game! 💪⚾
