Game Miami Marlins @ Chicago Cubs (May 14th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Rough Day at Wrigley Field

Fellow Cubs fans, it was a tough one for us at Wrigley Field today as we fell to the Marlins 3-1. Our boys showed a lot of heart, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the Marlins' early lead. It was a tale of missed opportunities and tough breaks.

Marlins Jump Ahead Early

The Marlins drew first blood in the top of the second inning with a homer by Kyle Stowers to left center. The Marlins struck again in the fourth with another homer, this time from Agustin Ramírez, followed immediately by a second homer from Stowers. With the score at 3-0, the Cubs had some ground to make up. 😟

Cubs' Comeback Falls Short

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Seiya Suzuki gave us something to cheer about with a massive 404-foot homer to center field. 🙌🎉 Unfortunately, that was all she wrote for our offense. Despite some solid performances, like Kyle Tucker drawing a walk and smashing a double later on and Dansby Swanson's single in the 8th, we just couldn't capitalize on our opportunities. 😔

Final Thoughts

Our pitching had some bright moments with Drew Pomeranz and others keeping the Marlins scoreless after a shaky start. However, the Marlins' pitching squad kept us in check with relentless precision. We had some runners on, but unfortunately, couldn't turn those into runs. Let's keep our spirits high and look forward to the next game! Go Cubs Go! 💙⚾
