Marlins' Strong Start in Queens
The Miami Marlins set the tone early against the New York Mets when Jakob Marsee reached on an infield single in the top of the 1st. Agustin Ramírez brought Marsee home with a sacrifice fly, giving us an early 1-0 lead and setting the stage for an exciting game!Holding Our Ground
Despite a quick response from the Mets in the bottom of the 1st with doubles from Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo, which set them up with a 2-1 lead, the Marlins rallied back in the 3rd inning. After Xavier Edwards was hit by a pitch and later scored, Liam Hicks added another and, thanks to an error, Troy Johnston also crossed home plate. By the end of the top 3rd, we surged ahead 4-2.
Sealing the Win in the Seventh
After the Mets tied it up in the 5th inning with a towering homer by Alonso, we knew it was time to kick it up a notch. The top of the 7th showcased our tenacity. Marsee and Hicks got on base, and with some Mets' defensive errors, Ramírez came through again. Otto Lopez singled to drive in Hicks, and Heriberto Hernández added another run with a sac fly. By then, we were confidently up 7-4!
Lockdown Defense in Closing Innings
The Marlins bullpen did not disappoint and expertly sealed the game. Faucher came in the 9th and put the final nail in the coffin by retiring the side, ending any hope the Mets had of a comeback! It was a victory well-earned by our Marlins with a final score of 7-4. Let’s keep this momentum going, Marlins!
