A Heartbreaker at Wrigley
Ugh, Brewers Nation, what a tough loss against the Cubs today!
Rapid Start and Missed Opportunities
The game started well with Christian Yelich walking in the top of the second, setting up an opportunity. Blake Perkins grounded out, but it allowed Yelich to score, putting us on the board first. The Cubs went scoreless in the first two innings, giving us a 1-0 lead. However, the bottom of the third tipped the scales against us, with the Cubs capitalizing on bases-loaded with a 3-run double by Busch. Boom, just like that, Cubs jump ahead 3-1.
Striking Back but Falling Short
Brice Turang kept us in the game with a single in the top of the 6th, bringing home Yelich and cutting down the Cubs lead to 3-2. Yet, in a dramatic turn, Shaw from the Cubs hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth, raising their lead to 4-2.The Dramatic Finale
The 9th inning gave us more hope as Danny Jansen brought in Turang with a clutch single. With the score at 4-3 and the game on the line, Brandon Lockridge stole second, and with bases loaded, William Contreras came up to the plate. Unfortunately, he lined out to second, leaving us tantalizingly close to a comeback.
Despite the loss, there were bright spots! Turang and Frelick showed resilience, and we came painfully close in the end. We'll regroup and come back stronger. Go Brew Crew!
