A Tough Loss at Wrigley Field
Fellow Brewers fans, tonight wasn't the night we had hoped for, but there's plenty to take away from our matchup against the Cubs. We kicked things off with Christian Yelich doubling to right, setting the stage for an early lead thanks to a sacrifice fly by Sal Frelick. A 1-0 start was certainly exciting!
Early Troubles on the Mound
Unfortunately, the excitement shifted quickly when Michael Busch of the Cubs answered back with a homer in the bottom of the 1st. Things got shaky as Pete Crow-Armstrong managed to bring in two more runs, leading to a 4-1 deficit by the end of the inning. Mears came in to try and stop the bleeding but not before another run slipped through on a wild pitch.
Finding Our Groove
In the 4th, we saw Jake Bauers stepping up and driving in Sal Frelick, giving us a little momentum. And who can forget Bauers’ solo homer in the 7th bringing us to within one run?
Opportunities Missed
In the 8th inning, with some base-running chances, excitement built up as Jackson Chourio led off with a solid double, but unfortunately, the Cubs' bullpen was just too strong. Despite our boys' relentless efforts, they were unable to capitalize and bring the run home, as William Contreras and others were unable to break through.
Wrapping It Up
Finally, in the top of the 9th inning, even though our pinch-hitter tactics with Andrew Vaughn were meant to inject some last-minute hope, the Cubs kept their grasp on the game and held us at bay. Tonight's 4-3 loss is tough to swallow, but we've got a resilient squad with a strong heart.Let's look forward to turning things around in the next matchup. Keep the faith, Brewers fans, and let’s bring the noise for our team!
