Tough Day at Citizens Bank Park
It was a rough outing for our Philadelphia Phillies as the Minnesota Twins managed to blank us 5-0 at home. Right from the first inning, the energy seemed off, with Byron Buxton quickly setting the tone with a solo home run to left center, carving out an early lead for the Twins.
The Struggle is Real
Throughout the game, it felt like our bats just couldn't find their groove. In the first inning alone, Harrison Bader, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryce Harper all struck out swinging. Kudos to Alec Bohm for breaking that cycle in the second with a solid single, but unfortunately, it didn’t spark a rally. Every time we got a sniff at a comeback, the hits just didn’t come in succession. Frustrating!!
Pitching Woes and Depressing Defense
On the mound, Cristopher Sánchez worked hard, but things unraveled in the 5th inning with a homer by James Outman followed by steady hits from the Twins. Even with our bullpen stepping up, allowing five runs without a response left the fans gloomy.

Looking Steady, Then Crumbling
The 4th inning saw a glimmer of hope when Brandon Marsh singled to center, advancing to second on a throwing error. But with Harper safely at third, we couldn't convert those defensive slips into runs. Our defense did their job with a couple of double plays, but there was always a looming edge of unease as the Twins stretched their lead.
Takeaways and Looking Forward
This wasn’t the home performance we were hoping for, and while this defeat stings, it's all about regrouping. Despite J.T. Realmuto and our other sluggers finding ways to get on base, we need to capitalize. Moving on to the next game is key, and as Phillies fans, our support never wavers. Let's bring the heat and redeem ourselves! Go Phillies!
