Padres Start Off Strong
The San Diego Padres gave us fans an exciting game today, starting with a solid opening inning. Right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. set the tone by singling to center, and Luis Arraez followed with a sacrifice bunt that allowed Tatis Jr. to advance to second. After a flyout that moved him to third, Jackson Merrill came through with a crucial hit to right field, allowing Tatis Jr. to score the first run of the game. This gave the Padres an early lead, and we could feel the energy!
Maintaining the Momentum
As the game progressed, our pitchers kept the Mets mostly at bay, with inning after inning of excellent defense. Jose Iglesias came close to adding another run after doubling to center in the 2nd inning, but was tagged out at home. Our consistent effort paid off in the bottom of the 6th when Merrill tripled to right field, bringing Arraez home and inching us ahead, 2-1.Seventh Inning Fireworks
The 7th inning was the highlight for us Padres fans! Elias Díaz doubled to bring Jake Cronenworth and Iglesias home, and then the golden moment: Manny Machado stepped up and smashed a homer to left center, bringing in Díaz and Arraez to take our score to a commanding 7-1. The excitement at Petco Park was electric, and you could see the Padres' synergy in every play.Securing the Victory
Our pitching squad locked down the Mets with efficient defense in the final innings. Even when Vientos managed a single in the 9th, Matsui and our trusty infielders didn't allow the Mets any more room to breathe. Ending on Vientos grounding out and a Baty strike out, it was clear we had sealed a fantastic win! Thanks to all the fans that showed up and cheered the team to a 7-1 victory—we couldn’t have done it without you!
