Tough Start with Yankees Taking the Lead

The game against the Yankees didn't start well for us Orioles fans 😓. The first inning saw the Yankees jump ahead as Giancarlo Stanton blasted a three-run homer to right field, putting them up 3-0. Our own boys managed a bit of hustle, with Gunnar Henderson reaching on an infield single and even stealing second, but unfortunately, no runs came in the first inning.

Continued Struggles at the Plate

Moving into the second and third innings, our bats stayed quiet while the Yankees added on with a solo homer by Aaron Judge in the third. We hoped for a spark from our power hitters like Ryan Mountcastle and Jeremiah Jackson, but they couldn't capitalize on opportunities with men on base 🥺. The Orioles waited for their moment, showing some defensive spirit, though.

The Lone Run for Os

By the seventh inning, the Yankees extended their lead to 6-0, with Trent Grisham driving in Anthony Volpe. Finally, the Orioles managed to put something on the board thanks to Coby Mayo's effort! He doubled to left, allowing Tyler O'Neill to score, making it 6-1. That moment was a small victory, and even though our rally fell short, it was great seeing Mayo hold his own out there! ⚾

Final Push and Thoughts

In the eighth and ninth inning, despite some pitching changes, we couldn't muster another rally. The Yankees' bullpen kept our bats silent. It's always tough to see a game end this way, but I still have high hopes for our young core! Jackson Holliday and Gunnar Henderson showed glimpses of what's possible, and we'll be back stronger next time 💪. Let's keep our heads up, Birdland! Tomorrow is a new game! 🧡⚫
