Tense Start to the Game
As a die-hard Colorado Rockies fan, it was tough to see the boys fall to the Athletics 6-3 in an extra-inning heartbreaker. The game started with some promise when Ezequiel Tovar smashed a triple to right, setting up Ryan McMahon who executed a perfect sacrifice fly, getting Tovar home. The first inning ended tied 1-1, but we had our spirits high!
Fighting Back in the Middle Innings
The score remained tight through the middle innings. In the 4th inning, Michael Toglia and Kyle Farmer worked together beautifully to level things up at 2-2. Farmer's double brought in Toglia, reminding everyone that our team never goes down without a fight! However, a made double play robbed us of gaining further momentum.Late-Inning Drama and Extra-Inning Heartbreak
As the game dragged into extra innings, it was anyone's match. Jordan Beck's clutch hit in the 8th inning brought the score level again at 3, but we couldn't capitalize on chances to steal it. Our bullpen held up until the 11th, when the Athletics' Jacob Wilson and Gio Urshela combined to edge them ahead.Mickey Moniak showed remarkable patience in the bottom of the 11th, walking, but even then, our bats fell silent. A tough game for sure, but as always, we remain proud of our Rockies family!
