Holding the Lead
As we moved deeper into the game, our defense showcased remarkable resolve in maintaining the lead. The Marlins clawed back a bit, tying the game by the bottom of the 5th inning, but we were quick to respond. Nick Kurtz got us back in the lead with a sacrifice fly in the 6th to make it 5-4, and as tension brewed, Gio Urshela's double in the 8th brought in Jacob Wilson, keeping the edge at 6-4. It was a nail-biter, and we believed victory was within reach!Heartbreak in the 9th
Our relief pitchers faced an intense challenge in the bottom of the 9th, where the Marlins fought tenaciously. After a series of unfortunate events, including a wild pitch and bases loaded situation, Kyle Stowers of the Marlins smashed a devastating grand slam
Despite this tough loss, our Athletics showed flashes of brilliance that we can definitely build upon! We'll keep rallying behind our team, looking forward to the next game with hopeful hearts. Go A's!
