Tough Day at National Park
Oh, fellow Nationals fans... what a tough game to witness.
Attempts and Heartbreaks at Offense
In the early innings, the A's were quick to capitalize. In the 2nd inning, the Athletics took the lead with a home run by Thomas, followed by a sacrifice fly by Langeliers which brought their score up to 3-0. Our boys, including CJ Abrams and Luis Garcia Jr., fought hard but weren't able to break the defensive wall set by Oakland’s pitchers.
We had some opportunities in the middle innings — Riley Adams managed a single, and Robert Hassell III hit a double. However, unfortunately, those chances didn’t translate into runs as we couldn’t drive them home.
Relief Pitching and Late Inning Struggles
Though our bullpen came in to relieve, with Rutledge and Poulin giving their best shot in innings 6 and 7, the Athletics extended their lead in the 8th inning with a solo homer by Soderstrom. The 9th inning saw Oakland adding another with Kurtz scoring Schuemann, leaving our Nationals still fighting but unable to put runs on the board.Yet again, credit to our players for their effort — we saw Jacob Young hustle and Nathaniel Lowe maintaining defensive prowess. Unfortunately, the magic didn’t happen for us today at the plate, as Oakland's pitchers kept us in check right through to the last out.

Let’s keep our heads up, Nationals! We’ll come back stronger next time.
