A Promising Start
What a start it was for our Arizona Diamondbacks!
In the bottom of the 1st, Ketel Marte stepped up and smashed a homer to right field, getting us on the board. Corbin Carroll followed with a single that set up a thrilling play, and an RBI fielder's choice by Blaze Alexander brought Carroll home, giving us an early 2-0 lead and a strong start against the Phillies. Despite a promising start, things got tougher as the Phillies began to chip away at our lead. After an RBI double in the 2nd, it was tied up following a homer from Harrison Bader in the 5th. Our bats had some success, with Geraldo Perdomo and Marte both connecting, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to muster up more runs. We hit some roadblocks in maintaining our early advantage.Late Innings Letdown
As the game progressed, our bullpen faced challenges. A key error on a fielding play and a homer by Nick Castellanos put us in a tough spot, and the Phillies pulled ahead in the 8th inning to take a 5-2 lead. By the top of the 9th, the Phillies extended their lead, and despite some perseverance, we couldn't claw our way back. The final score stood at 8-2 in favor of the Phillies.
It's tough to see us falter in the late innings, but we'll rally back stronger in the next match!
