A Heart-Pounding Start
What an electric start to the game for our Bronx Bombers! The atmosphere was already electric at Yankee Stadium as soon as Cody Bellinger smashed a 375-foot homer to right field in the first inning, putting us on the scoreboard first. Even when the Phillies were trying to rally in the first couple of innings, our defense and pitching held strong. It was Austin Wells who added to that early excitement with another homer in the second inning, extending our lead 2-0.
Mid-Game Struggles
Despite our strong start, the Phillies clawed back into the game with Kyle Schwarber hitting a two-run homer in the fifth, leveling the scores at 2-2. We responded in the sixth inning with a towering 415-foot homer by Giancarlo Stanton, putting us back in the lead, 3-2. Then came some bad luck in the seventh, when a series of errors allowed the Phillies to jump ahead after J.T. Realmuto hit a three-run shot, leaving us trailing 6-3.Final Push Falls Short
In the seventh inning, Anthony Volpe kept our hopes alive by sending one over the left field wall. After Ben Rice reached base, Aaron Judge brought him home with a sacrifice fly. We were neck-and-neck at 5-6, but the Phillies came back with a vengeance in the eighth and ninth with Schwarber and Trea Turner piling on the runs. Despite a valiant effort from our lineup, ultimately finishing the game at 12-5.It's always tough to take a loss, but the flashes of brilliance from Stanton, Bellinger, and Volpe show there's lots to look forward to. We'll regroup and come back stronger, Yankees fans!
