Phillies Start with a Bang!
The Phillies kicked off the game on an exciting note in the top of the first inning. Bryson Stott set the tone by doubling to right field. Trea Turner followed up by advancing Stott to third with a fly out. Bryce Harper then delivered a sacrifice fly to center to bring Stott home, putting us on the board with an early lead of 1-0.
Bit of a Struggle
As the innings went by, our offense faced a bit of a dry spell. We struggled to get on base after the first inning, and the Rays took advantage, pulling ahead 2-1 by the end of the third. Despite hits from Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto, double plays and strikeouts kept us from scoring in the middle innings. It wasn't until the 8th inning that things started to heat up for us again. The Dramatic Comeback!
The top of the 8th inning was a turning point. Down 5-1, J.T. Realmuto singled, and Alec Bohm reached on a fielder's choice. Brandon Marsh then singled, setting the stage for Bryson Stott, who crushed a three-run homer (409 feet!) to right field to pull us within reach at 5-4.
Extra Innings Excitement!
Heading into the 9th inning down by a run, Kyle Schwarber singled, and thanks to a wild pickoff error, Johan Rojas (running for Schwarber) advanced to third. Nick Castellanos walked, and Weston Wilson (running for Castellanos) pinch ran into the game. Max Kepler grounded out but brought Rojas home, leveling the game at 5-5 and forcing extra innings! The 10th was a nail-biter, but Brandon Marsh doubled, allowing Edmundo Sosa to score the go-ahead run, and Trea Turner added an insurance run with a single, making it 7-5.The Final Push
Our bullpen held strong in the bottom of the 10th. Despite some tense moments, Matt Strahm closed it out, and the Phillies secured a thrilling 7-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays! What a game, Phillies fans! Time to celebrate this heart-stopping win!
