Nationals Jump to Early Lead
The Washington Nationals showed early promise in today's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. With Dylan Crews starting strong by drawing a walk, this set the stage for Drew Millas to double to right field and bring Crews home, securing the Nationals' first run of the day. This gave us an early edge, ending the first inning with a 1-0 lead.
Phillies Rally in the 6th Inning
The Phillies bounced back in a tough 6th inning for us. Despite a solid pitching effort, a series of errors piled up, and before we knew it, the Phillies pulled ahead with a 5-1 lead. It was a difficult moment to see their hit parade, with Rincon making a significant impact with a double that brought three runners home.
Nationals' Late-Inning Heroics
Just when things looked dire, our boys mounted an impressive comeback in the 8th inning. With Orelvis Martinez's ground rule double, both Sergio Alcantara and Riley Adams crossed the plate, bringing us back to a tie at 5-5. Matt Mervis was on a roll as well, showing resilience by scoring from third after a wild pitch. The game culminated in a nail-biting finish, ending in a hard-fought 5-5 tie. What a thrilling way to go out!
