Well, Cubs fans, it was a tough night at Wrigley Field as our Cubs fell 2-1 to the Pirates in a nail-biting extra-innings showdown.
With the score tied at 1-1 through nine innings, the Pirates managed to scrape an extra run in the 10th to seal the victory. Let’s break it down.Pitcher’s Duel Early On
Both teams were held scoreless through the first seven innings, with Ian Happ and Kyle Tucker working hard to get on base, though it wasn't quite enough to bring runners home. We saw some solid defensive plays on both sides and commendable pitching performances that kept the bats at bay.
The 8th and Some Hope
Just when things seemed bleak, Tucker managed to reach base in the 8th and some offensive shuffling helped drive him home thanks to a fielder's choice play with Dansby Swanson at the plate.
Home crowd erupted as the Cubs tied the game, 1-1, giving us a shot to pull off a late-night W in the heart of Chicago. 
Extra-Inning Letdown
We headed into the 10th all tied, but unfortunately, the Pirates pushed ahead with a sacrifice fly bringing them up 2-1. Our last opportunity in the bottom of the inning was met with gritty Pirates defense, as Happ, Tucker, and Seiya Suzuki couldn’t quite get things moving. With a final out and an end at first base, we fell short.
Final Thoughts
