Game Pittsburgh Pirates @ Chicago Cubs (June 14th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

An Exciting Start

What a thrilling game, Cubs fans! ⚾️ The matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates kept us on the edge of our seats until the very end. The game kicked off with the Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen launching a solo homer to left-center, giving them an early 1-0 lead. Our own Ian Happ couldn’t quite find his rhythm and struck out swinging, but Kyle Tucker got things going with an infield single. However, it wasn’t enough to get a run on the board in the first inning.

Evening the Score

The Pirates continued to hold their lead until the third inning. That’s when our Nico Hoerner, showing great hustle, singled to left and then stole second. Happ made up for his earlier strikeout with a sacrifice fly to bring Hoerner home, tying the game at 1-1! Cheers erupted across Wrigley field! 🙌

Taking the Lead

It was a tense few innings with both teams locked at 1-1, but then the magic moment happened in the sixth inning. Our hero, Dansby Swanson, blasted a homer to left-center, covering an impressive 377 feet. This gave us a 2-1 lead and put us on the path to victory! 💥

Holding Strong

The remaining innings were a nerve-wracking experience with the Pirates trying to claw their way back. But our relief pitchers Pressly, Pomeranz, and finally Palencia held their ground beautifully. Palencia closed out the game in style, earning the save with Nick Gonzales standing as the Pirates’ last hope. After reaching first on an infield single, Ke'Bryan Hayes ended the game with a strikeout.

Final score: Cubs 2, Pirates 1. Go Cubs Go! 🎉

Gang, it was a rollercoaster ride, but these are the moments that make being a Cubs fan so special. Let’s keep this momentum going—onward to the next victory! 🐻💪
