A Slow Start for the Bucs

The Pirates went up against the Giants looking to spoil their day on San Francisco’s home turf! It started a bit slow, with the Pirates unable to get on the board in the first inning. Spencer Horwitz grounded out, Andrew McCutchen struck out swinging, and Bryan Reynolds popped out. The Giants didn't fare any better in their opening inning, thanks to Ke'Bryan Hayes and his smooth play for a double play to end the inning.

Giants Take an Early Lead

Both teams held strong defensively through the second and third innings. The pitching was on point, with the Pirates keeping the Giants at bay and vice versa. That was until the bottom of the 4th, when Willy Adames cracked one out the park. His solo homer gave the Giants a slight edge, 1-0. But little did the Giants know, that was where their scoring would start and end for the day!

Pirates Rally in the 8th

Liover Peguero made sure the Pirates responded in the 5th inning with a homer of his own! 🎉 With that solo blast, the Pirates tied it at 1-1. The real action happened in the top of the 8th. Nick Gonzales started us off with a single, followed by Tommy Pham's crafty infield single. The bases were juiced, and Joey Bart stepped up in a big way—sending an RBI single to left field, giving the Bucs a 2-1 lead. Ke'Bryan Hayes then scored on Peguero's groundout, extending the lead to 3-1.

Closing the Deal

Our bullpen didn't disappoint in the end! Carlos Santana came in for the bottom of the 9th and shut down the Giants with style. The game wrapped up with Rafael Devers striking out, Adames grounding out to third, and Matt Chapman going down on strikes. Pirates win it 3-1! ⚾🐶 Way to go, Bucs! Here's to more victories like this one! 🏴‍☠️🖤💛
