A Slow Start

The game started on a rocky note for us Nationals fans as the Pirates put up a quick 3 runs in the top of the first inning. Our starter on the mound, Cade Cavalli, struggled early with a two-run triple by Nick Gonzales and a wild pitch that allowed another run. The bats weren't awakened in the bottom half of the first inning as we went down quietly. It was certainly not the kind of start we were hoping for! 😟

A Thrilling Comeback

But hang tight, Nats fans! The bottom of the second inning was our moment to shine. Daylen Lile got us started with a walk, and soon after, Andres Chaparro singled, putting runners on the corners. Paul DeJong came through with a double that plated Lile, and Nasim Nuñez brought in another run with a sacrifice fly. Jacob Young capped off the rally by driving in DeJong with a single. Just like that, we tied the game at 3-3! 🙌👏

Lile Seals the Win!

After a few quiet innings, all tied up, we headed into the bottom of the 8th inning with anticipation. James Wood worked a walk to start the inning and Daylen Lile, our hero of the night, delivered an electrifying double that brought Wood all the way around to score on a fielding error by the Pirates! With a 4-3 lead going into the last inning, the tension was high. ⚾😳

In the top of the 9th inning, Bryce Beeter took the mound to close it out for us. After two strikeouts and a couple of Pirates on base, he struck out Bryan Reynolds swinging, giving us the sweet victory! Great job, Nats! 🎉

It wasn't easy, but our Nats showed incredible resilience to come from behind and secure the win. Credit to our pitching staff for keeping the Buc's offense contained after that shaky start. Let's carry this momentum forward! Go Nats! 🚀🔴⚪🔵
