A Promising Start!
️
Ahoy, Pirates fans! We started the game with a bang against the Nationals. In the top of the 1st inning, Jared Triolo got things moving with an infield single, followed by Spencer Horwitz drawing a walk. The moment the crowd was waiting for came when Nick Gonzales tripled to right, bringing in both Triolo and Horwitz, and thanks to a wild pitch, scored himself! We held a sturdy 3-0 lead, making it a thrilling start!
Nationals Fight Back
Unfortunately, the Nationals didn’t take long to respond. In the bottom of the 2nd, a combination of a few singles and a sacrifice fly allowed them to even the score at 3-3. A few unfortunate sequences and Paul DeJong's double made the difference here. Our pitchers did their best, but we needed to gather some momentum at the plate again. A Tight Battle Until the End
The middle innings were tight, with strong pitching and defense from both teams. Oneil Cruz tried rallying with a double in the 8th, but we couldn't quite capitalize. Unfortunately, in the bottom of the same inning, a misplay allowed Daylen Lile to bring in the go-ahead run for the Nationals, breaking the tie. We went into the 9th with hope. Spencer Horwitz added a single, yet despite getting the tying run to third, we couldn't push it across. In the end, it was a hard-fought 4-3 loss, but big props to our lineup for the hustle and spirit throughout the game! Let's regroup and get them next time.
