What a thrilling day at Wrigley as our Chicago Cubs pulled off a fantastic win against the San Diego Padres! The final score was 3-1 in our favor, with the Cubs showcasing excellent pitching and timely offense to seal the deal. The crowd was electric from start to finish!

Key Contributions in Offense​

The game got off to a great start in the bottom of the first when Ian Happ singled to left, setting the tone for the Cubs’ offense. The highlight of the inning was Nico Hoerner's patience at the plate, drawing a walk with the bases loaded to score Happ for our first run. This early lead put momentum on our side. Later on, in the bottom of the 5th, Justin Turner pinch-hit for Michael Busch and came up huge with an infield single to shortstop, driving in Happ. Dansby Swanson kept the rally going, as he reached on a fielder's choice which allowed Kyle Tucker to cross home plate, capitalizing on a Manny Machado error.

Pitching and Defense Dominate​

Our pitchers were on fire, especially in critical moments of the game. Following Martin Maldonado's solo homer in the top of the 3rd for the Padres, our pitching effort was rock solid. Pressly shut down any hope of a comeback in the 9th inning with clutch pitches, striking out Jake Cronenworth to finish the game. The defense looked sharp as ever with flawless fielding, and players like Dansby Swanson and Matt Shaw executing crucial plays to keep the Padres at bay.
