A Tight Battle on the Road

Well, Padres fans, it was a rollercoaster of a game today against the Yankees, and unfortunately, we didn't come out on top. 😞 In what seemed like a pitching battle in the opening innings, both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings. Our very own Jackson Merrill broke the stalemate with a moonshot in the 4th inning to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. And can we just take a moment to appreciate that 417-foot bomb? Merrill has definitely been an exciting presence in our lineup! 🙌

An Eighth-Inning Tug-of-War

Entering the 8th with our Padres leading 1-0, we hoped to continue the momentum. After some strategic walks and heads-up base running, Xander Bogaerts delivered a crucial sacrifice fly, extending our lead to 3-1. Things looked promising, but Yankees had an answer with two-run homer by pinch hitter Trent Grisham, evening the score to 3-3. Baseball can be so unpredictable at times! ⚾

Nail-biting Finish

Into extra innings, it was a showdown. Brandon Lockridge made a steal to third base, enticing us with the thought of a lead early in the 10th inning, but the Yankees’ defense held steady. Then, in the bottom of the 10th, New York edged out a win with J.C. Escarra hitting a sacrifice fly to bring in the winning run. A tough loss, Padres fans, but hey, we battled well! We'll take the fight to the next game and hope for a turnaround. Let's keep cheering our Padres all the way! 🌟
