A Roller Coaster of Emotions at Fenway
The game between the Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners was a roller coaster of emotions for us Red Sox fans. Despite an early struggle, it was refreshing to see our team scrap to make the game competitive near the end. The Mariners got on board early in the top of the first inning thanks to a base hit from Mitch Garver. Meanwhile, our side had a rough start with both Jarren Duran and Rafael Devers striking out, although Alex Bregman did spark a glimmer of hope with a double.
Casas' Homer Shows Fight
The middle innings were a challenge as J.P. Crawford of the Mariners launched a three-run homer in the fourth inning. We did manage to pull one run back thanks to a clutch single from Romy González scoring Trevor Story. Then in the fifth inning, Jarren Duran doubled, setting up a groundout for Rafael Devers to send Ceddanne Rafaela home, narrowing the gap to 2-4. But the Mariners expanded their lead to 8-2 due to some defensive miscues and timely hits. It was looking bleak, but our lads didn't head for the showers just yet!
The Late Rally Comes Up Short
Triston Casas provided the highlight of our offensive efforts with a massive three-run blast in the eighth inning, cutting the margin to 5-8. His homer, measuring 372 feet, breathed life back into Fenway Park, giving us hope for a comeback. Unfortunately, in the ninth inning, pinch-hitter Rob Refsnyder struck out looking, and we couldn't muster any more offense as the game ended 5-8 in favor of the Mariners.Even in defeat, there were some positives in our performance today, and we showed once again why we never go down without a fight. On to the next one!
