Rough Start for the Reds Offense

Well, fellow Reds fans, it was a tough day at the ballpark as we faced off against the Seattle Mariners and came up short with a 5-3 loss. 😓 The game started off rocky for us, with Elly De La Cruz committing a fielding error on the very first play, which ended up costing a run after Randy Arozarena doubled in the top of the first. Our bats were cold in the bottom half as the unfortunate trio of TJ Friedl, Matt McLain, and Elly De La Cruz went down on strikes. No runs on the board to start, and the Mariners took an early 1-0 lead.

Mariners Extend Lead But Reds Fight Back

Seattle added two more runs before we got on the board. Cal Raleigh hit a massive homer in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 4-0, and another homer from him in the seventh made it 5-0. But we didn’t go down without a fight. In the bottom of the seventh, Christian Encarnacion-Strand provided some much-needed fireworks with a clutch double that knocked in two runs. 😊 Jose Trevino followed with an RBI single, bringing the score to 5-3 and renewing our hopes.

A Challenging Finish

Despite our promising rally in the seventh, we couldn't quite close the gap. Mariners' relief pitchers kept us in check in the eighth and ninth innings. Elly De La Cruz managed an infield single in the eighth, but a double play snuffed out any further opportunity. In the ninth, Andrés Muñoz shut the door on us, and we ended the game with another loss. 😢 The top of the lineup couldn't find a way to spark a comeback this time. We'll need to regroup and come back stronger in our next match-up. Keep your heads up, Reds Nation! There's always tomorrow. 🍀
