A Promising Start

As an Oakland Athletics fan, the game today at Oakland Coliseum against the Seattle Mariners was a rollercoaster of emotions 🎢. We came out strong in the 4th inning thanks to a fantastic performance from Nick Kurtz, who doubled to center, setting the tone for us. When Shea Langeliers followed up with a double to right, sending Kurtz home, it felt like we were on a roll. And when Brent Rooker brought Langeliers home with a single to left, I was on my feet cheering. It was a promising inning as we managed to push the score to 3-0. 🌟

7th Inning Slump

The 7th inning, however, was a bit of a nightmare. Sammy Ginn couldn't keep the Mariners at bay, and it went downhill from there. After Rob Refsnyder was hit by a pitch, the Mariners rallied hard. A clutch double by Mitch Garver and a sneaky infield single by Randy Arozarena saw the game slip from our hands 😟. The Mariners took the lead after Cal Raleigh doubled to center, clearing the bases and bringing the score to 6-3 against us. Our bullpen tried their best, but the damage was already done.

A Fighting Finish

Still, we didn’t go quietly. The 8th inning saw a solid effort from Carlos Cortes who grounded out but still managed to bring Luke Mann home. Unfortunately, we couldn't get more than that runner across, despite a spirited effort from the lineup. In the 9th, there was a glimmer of hope when Drew Swift reached on an infield single, but it wasn't meant to be. The game ended with a final score of 6-4 in favor of the Mariners. Though we fell short, I'm proud of the tenacity our teammates displayed, and I'm hopeful for the next games! 💚⚾
