Tough Start for the Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals squared off against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and despite a strong fight, they ended up falling short with a final score of 3-5 in favor of the Diamondbacks. Things started a bit rocky for our boys. After a quiet first half of the inning, the Diamondbacks seized the momentum in the bottom of the first. Corbin Carroll’s triple set the stage, leading to Geraldo Perdomo scoring a run and ultimately culminating with Eugenio Suárez launching a three-run homer over the left wall, putting them up 4-0. This was an early setback, but we never lost hope!
A Glimmer of Hope
By the time the top of the 3rd came around, we were trailing 4-0. But there was a spark of life! Victor Scott II started things off with a double and then showcased his speed by stealing third. This set the stage for Ivan Herrera to send him home with a single, bringing the score to 4-1. This rally was short-lived but was a good reminder of the fight in our team!
Final Push, But Short
Heading into the final innings, it was an uphill battle. Our guys continued to fight; in the 9th inning, Masyn Winn hit a single, followed by a powerful double from Jordan Walker, pushing Winn to score and making it 5-3. The momentum was swinging our way, but alas, Victor Scott II was unable to keep it going and lined out to right, bringing the game to a close. While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, there were several standout performances to look back on. Here’s to regrouping and coming back stronger in the next game!
