Rough Day for the Reds Offense
As a long-time Cincinnati Reds fan, I'm sorry to say today's game against the Cardinals was definitely one of our tougher outings. There wasn't much luck on our side today, and our bats just couldn't get going. We started off trailing right away, with the Cardinals jumping to a quick 3-run lead in the first inning, thanks to a monster 421-foot homer by Willson Contreras. In total, by the middle of the 3rd inning, they had already scored 9 runs and, unfortunately, that's where they'd stay... but also all they'd need.
A Few Hits, But Not Enough Support
We did see a few glimmers of hope throughout the game, however, like Matt McLain's infield single in the bottom of the first, allowing him to steal second. Elly De La Cruz managed to register a pair of singles, signaling those quick reflexes as usual. Santiago Espinal knocked in our lone run in the 6th inning with a single that brought home De La Cruz. But it was too little too late, and their pitching unfortunately had our number today.Pitching Struggles Continue
On the pitching side of things, it was a tough day for the Reds moundsmen. Connor Petty really struggled early, and their lineup was relentless. Willson Contreras, again, was especially damaging, driving in several of their runs. Not to mention, the Cards' bullpen shut us down for the rest of the game. Let's hope we can work on controlling those powerful hitters in future matchups.Overall, it just wasn't the Reds' day today. But every fan knows you gotta take the bad with the good. This faithful fan remains hopeful for a comeback in our next game. Let's regroup, move forward, and get back in the race, Reds! Let's never stop believing.
