Tough Day at Citi Field for the Cardinals
Well, fellow Cardinals fans, today wasn't quite what we hoped for at Citi Field against the Mets.
Early Struggles and A Lone Bright Spot
The game kicked off with some promise as Willson Contreras walked in the 1st, and Brendan Donovan managed to steal second, but we couldn't capitalize. Things took a downturn in the bottom of the 2nd when Mark Vientos homered to give the Mets their first lead. Very soon, it became 4-0, and we were playing catch-up on a day when runs were hard to come by.In the top of the 3rd, we finally saw a spark. Victor Scott II singled and stole second, before moving to third on a wild pitch. It set the stage for Brendan Donovan to bring him home with an infield single. That was, unfortunately, our only run of the game.

Pitching Holds Steady, But Not Enough
Despite our offensive struggles, there were some commendable efforts on the mound. After the tumultuous 2nd inning, our relievers did a commendable job containing the Mets. Svanson and King were particularly noteworthy, holding the opposition scoreless in their innings. However, the early deficit proved too much for us to overcome today.Looking Forward
While today's game didn't go our way, let's keep our heads up, Cards fans! Looking forward, we have many games ahead to turn things around and show what we're truly capable of. Let's give our players all the support we can, and rally our energy behind them as they hit the field again. GO CARDS!
