The Pirates Put Up a Fight

Hey fellow Bucs fans! It was a bit of a roller-coaster tonight. Despite a spirited fightback at the end, the Pirates fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in a 5-3 contest.

Early Innings: A Quiet Start

The action started quietly, with the first inning going hitless for both sides. Both Jack Suwinski and Bryan Reynolds were unable to break the Cardinals’ stronghold, but we kept our hopes up. It was the third inning that saw the Cardinals jump ahead when Victor Scott II tripled to center, bringing in two runs. Brendan Donovan followed up with a single, driving in another run, leaving us trailing 3-0.

Reynolds' Fireworks and a Late Rally

But Bryan Reynolds was determined to spark some joy! He launched a 391-foot homer to right-center in the bottom of the fourth, putting us on the board and reducing the Cardinals' lead to 3-1 🐯💥. The 6th inning saw a few rough moments where the Cardinals added a couple of insurance runs, leaving us at a 5-1 disadvantage. Nevertheless, the Pirates showed some fight in the 9th! Alexander Canario and Reynolds hit their way on base to set the stage for some drama. Andrew McCutchen, pinch-hitting for Oneil Cruz, managed to bring Canario home with a groundout. Joey Bart stepped up and doubled to bring Reynolds home, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Final Thoughts

A tough loss, but the late rally showcased the heart of the Pirates. Bryan Reynolds certainly highlighted the night with both scoring and hitting efforts. While the scoreboard favored St. Louis tonight, we continue to stand behind our team. Let’s hope for a brighter day on the field tomorrow. Until next time, Bucs fans! 🏴‍☠️⚾
