Tough Loss Against the Rays
It wasn't the night we hoped for as our beloved Orioles fell to the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-2. From the get-go, the Rays took control, but let's take a detailed look at how it unfolded. The top of the 1st saw Chandler Simpson single to center, setting the stage for Brandon Lowe to double him in for the first score. Although Gunnar Henderson showed some hustle with a stolen base followed by getting to third due to a pickoff error, our bats couldn't convert in the bottom of the inning.Orioles Struggle Offensively
Despite some hope in the early innings from players like Colton Cowser, who showcased his patience at the plate with a walk and a stolen base in the 3rd inning, we just couldn't capitalize. The Rays were efficient and extended their lead with key hits, including a home run by Brandon Lowe and an unfortunate error in the 6th inning that allowed Richie Palacios to score. We saw Tyler O'Neill and Adley Rutschman put up good fights, but their efforts fell short under pressure with the bases empty.A Glimmer of Hope
Finally, in the 8th inning, Colton Cowser reached base on a walk and found himself at third base thanks to Dylan Beavers’ single. The hustle led to Jordan Westburg delivering a clutch infield single that brought both Cowser and Beavers home. Unfortunately, the fiery momentum fizzled out, and the 9th inning saw Samuel Basallo getting hit by a pitch and replaced by Coby Mayo, only for Rutschman to ground into a double play, and Ryan Mountcastle to fly out, sealing the game for the Rays.
