Game Tampa Bay Rays @ Chicago Cubs (September 14th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

A Rocky Start

The game kicked off with a tense start for us Cubs fans as the Tampa Bay Rays quickly took the lead. In the first inning, both Yandy Díaz and Junior Caminero launched homers, giving the Rays a 2-0 lead 😬. Our own Michael Busch doubled, allowing Nico Hoerner to single and bring Busch home. But after a rough double play, we were trailing 2-1 at the end of the first inning.

A Battle in the Middle

The Rays made us sweat in the third inning when Josh Lowe scored, giving them a 3-1 lead. Thankfully, Javier Assad came in for the sixth inning and kept their bats at bay. Cheers to our boy Ian Happ for his solo homer in the sixth inning 🐻🔵! That brought us within striking range at 3-2. Nico Hoerner was the hero of the seventh inning with a double that brought Willi Castro and Matt Shaw home, turning the tide and putting us ahead 4-3!

Sealing the Victory

The final innings were tense, to say the least. Caleb Thielbar and Pete Crow-Armstrong made sure the Rays stayed at bay with key defensive plays, and the thrilling ninth inning saw Kevin Kittredge shut the door on any further Rays scoring attempts. Final score? A victorious 4-3 for the Cubs! Let's savor this one, Cubs fans! 🎉⚾
